The Car Seats for Christy Foundation provides car seats and boosters to those in need and raises awareness about child passenger safety through outreach events and social media.
Our namesake, Christy Barnhart Hebert, was a dear friend and co-worker of the organization’s founders. During their time together, they got to know first hand how important child passenger safety was to her daily routine. On lunch outings, Christy would playfully offer to drive, “as long as someone doesn’t mind sitting in a car seat!” A young single mother of two, car seats and/or boosters had quickly become a permanent part of her back seat.
This practice proved to be priceless one evening in early January, 2004, when Christy and her girls were involved in an automobile accident that took her life and spared theirs.
In her memory, later that year a simple car seat drive was organized and Car Seats for Christy (CSFC) was born. Many successful years later with support and encouragement from co-workers, family, friends and community partners, CSFC officially became The Car Seats for Christy Foundation, a 501(c)3 organization.
Goodluck!
